Theo Presents

A short-episode animated series in which an elderly English theologian named Theo, with two mice, teaches children one doctrine per episode: God's love, grace, heart, truth and desire. Each volume ties the teaching to Scripture rather than to a moral lesson.

Why this is listed

The official site describes it as a Christian children's cartoon series teaching God's Word, sold as five home-edition DVD volumes (God's Love, Grace, Heart, Truth, Desire) and as downloads, with a five-pack bundle. Produced by Whitestone Media.

Before you press play

Short animated episodes in which an elderly teacher explains one doctrine at a time to two mice, with Scripture quoted on screen. Gentle and clear. Young children and up.

Suited to Young children. Age judgements are ours, not a rating board’s — you know your own family.

How to start

  1. Open theopresents.com (opens an external site) and read what Whitestone Media says about itself before you read anything else.
  2. Read the note above first. It is there so an evening does not go wrong twenty minutes in.
  3. Watch it yourself before you watch it with children, if there are children.
  4. Read the passage it dramatises alongside it. The point is to send you back to the text, not to replace it.
  5. Afterwards, ask what the story added and what it left out. That conversation is worth more than the film.

Buck Denver Asks… What's in the Bible?

    Jellyfish Labs (Phil Vischer)

Thirteen volumes of puppets, songs and a host walking children through every book of the Bible in order — nine on the Old Testament, four on the New. It teaches the shape of the canon rather than retelling the stories: covenant, exile, why there are two testaments, where the books came from.
