Lumo Project / Bible Media Group
The Lumo Project Gospel films
Four feature-length films of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in which the complete Gospel text is the script, narrated word for word over a dramatised, unscripted visual retelling filmed in the Middle East and North Africa. English narration is available in the NIV, KJV and ESV.
Why this is listed
The official site confirms the films use the four Gospels word for word, are available in over 1,540 languages, stream free on the Lumo YouTube channel, and are distributed by Bible Media Group; English and Spanish versions can also be bought on Amazon and iTunes. An Acts of the Apostles miniseries is announced as upcoming.
Before you press play
The four Gospels filmed word for word, with the Bible text as the only narration. No dialogue is invented. The crucifixion is shown as the text describes it, so parents may want to preview those scenes for young children. All ages.
Suited to Teens. Age judgements are ours, not a rating board’s — you know your own family.
How to start
- Open lumoproject.com (opens an external site) and read what Lumo Project / Bible Media Group says about itself before you read anything else.
- Read the note above first. It is there so an evening does not go wrong twenty minutes in.
- Watch it yourself before you watch it with children, if there are children.
- Read the passage it dramatises alongside it. The point is to send you back to the text, not to replace it.
- Afterwards, ask what the story added and what it left out. That conversation is worth more than the film.
