Spoken Gospel

Free video introductions of about ten minutes to each book of the Bible, plus short devotionals on every chapter and a podcast, all aimed at showing how each passage points to Jesus. The library is arranged book by book and is still being completed.

Why this is listed

The site confirms the resources are free, hosted on its own library and YouTube, and available in several languages; founded 2018 by Eric Smith and David Bowden in Edmond, Oklahoma. Its What We Believe page affirms the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds, the authority of Scripture, and salvation through Christ's death and resurrection without adopting a denomination.

Before you press play

Short free videos that walk through a book or passage of the Bible and show how it points to Jesus. Straight teaching with motion graphics, no dramatisation. All ages; written for adults.

Suited to Adults. Age judgements are ours, not a rating board’s — you know your own family.

How to start

  1. Open spokengospel.com (opens an external site) and read what Spoken Gospel says about itself before you read anything else.
  2. Read the note above first. It is there so an evening does not go wrong twenty minutes in.
  3. Watch it yourself before you watch it with children, if there are children.
  4. Read the passage it dramatises alongside it. The point is to send you back to the text, not to replace it.
  5. Afterwards, ask what the story added and what it left out. That conversation is worth more than the film.
