Samaritan's Purse

Deploy with a Samaritan's Purse disaster team

After hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes, Samaritan's Purse bases an operation at a local church and sends volunteer crews out to tarp roofs, clear trees, and muck out flooded houses for homeowners at no charge. Volunteers sign up per deployment, usually for a week.

Why this is listed

One of the few relief operations a first-time volunteer can join within days of a storm, and the work is unglamorous property work rather than photography. Basing at a local church is deliberate: the response closes down, the congregation stays.

How to start

  1. Open samaritanspurse.org (opens an external site) and read what Samaritan's Purse says about itself before you read anything else.
  2. Check the time it asks for: one-off.
  3. Look at the filings below, then decide. Numbers are context, not a verdict.
  4. Tell your church. Going out is rarely meant to be done alone.
