ESV Bible reading plans

A set of free daily plans — whole Bible in a year, chronological, the M’Cheyne four-chapters-a-day plan, Old Testament with Psalms — delivered on the web, by email, or as printable PDFs. Pick one, follow the date, read the passage.

Why this is listed

Several plans in one place, including M’Cheyne, so a reader who has failed at January-to-December Genesis-first can choose a different shape rather than quit. Printable PDFs matter more than they sound: a plan on paper survives a dead phone.

How to start

  1. Open esv.org (opens an external site) and read what Crossway says about itself before you read anything else.
  2. Confirm the cost and level fit: free, introductory, over weekly rhythm.
  3. Note the tradition — Broadly evangelical. It will shape what you are taught, and that is worth knowing going in.
  4. Put the first session in your calendar now. The gap between reading about study and doing it is a calendar entry.
