Compassion International

Compassion International’s church-based child programme

Compassion works through local churches in low-income communities to provide children with health care, education, and discipleship, alongside congregations that already know the families. Each child is known by name, and letters connect children with people in other countries.

Why this is listed

Child-by-child, church-based, and unusually transparent about outcomes for its size. It works through the local church rather than around it — a deliberate model worth understanding before you get involved.

How to start

  1. Open compassion.com (opens an external site) and read what Compassion International says about itself before you read anything else.
  2. Check the time it asks for: ongoing.
  3. Look at the filings below, then decide. Numbers are context, not a verdict.
  4. Tell your church. Going out is rarely meant to be done alone.
